My sister is Tara and we've always pronounced it Tah-rah. To all those who think it's nickname proof: Lots of people (myself included) often just call her Ta.
I love the name, it's short, sweet, feminine and very Irish. Also my mother was a big fan of GWTW and of course the name of the plantation in the book is Tara.

I think it's nice enough, and I say it TAHR-uh. BUT-and this is a big but-it means 'vagina' in Maori. So I would never, ever use it.
I pronounce it ta-ra with a short "a" like in "cat". I like the name :-)

I don't mind the name, it's not a fave, but it's nice for someone else's child. I pronounce it tah-rah.
I find it utterly blah. Sorry.
I pronounce it both ways and love the name either way-it's a favorite! I had always pron. it Tar-a until recently I heard it both ways.
I pronounce it both ways, since I knew people who pronouced it both ways.
I hate it. It's so trendy sounding and sugar-coated. Ugh.

Cole: You've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn.

Tair-uh. Yes I love it! I used it as a character name once too!
I prefer the tah-rah prn. I like the name, but not a great deal.
