Thursday
How do you feel about the name Thursday, as in the intrepid Thursday Next of Jasper Fforde's book series? Her mother is Wednesday, and she eventually has a son named Friday and a daughter named Tuesday. Thursday is my favourite of the names (though her brothers, Anton and Jeffrey "Joffy," have really great names, too), though.Anyway, what do you think? Any middle name ideas? As a note, of 124 given people named Thursday, 10 were male, 113 were female, and 1 had no listed gender. (Comes from an incomplete--but still pretty good--census record database, which in this case went from 1860 to 1930.)Array

There is a woman in my town named Thursday. She hates it. Every single time she says what her name is, she gets some lame remark that she's heard 20,000 times before. I think that day names are a bad idea for real people. For story characters, pretty cute.

I relly like Thursday, and Wednesday, and Tuesday...but naming an entire family after days of the week? That's gone too far. By themselves, I love the names. All together they're horrible.-------------------------------------------------

Well, in the books...(m)Everyone has silly names--it's the point. If they were real people, I'd find it annoying, but since it's a series that involves people named Mycroft, Braxton Hicks, Bowden Cable, Zvlkx, and Landen Parke-Laine, the Next family is perfectly normal.http://www.jasperfforde.com/

I don't care for any day of the week names, as they aren't names to me. It doesn't have a masculine or feminine quality to it.

I suppose being a day of the week, the name would be unisex, but I just see them on girls more for some reason. It's not something I would do, just b/c it's nms. When I do meet someone w/a day of the week name, though, I usually like it. As for combos, you could go traditional or quirky. Let's see...Thursday Blue (either)
Thursday Cassidy (either)
Thursday Grace
Thursday Lorelei
Thursday Isaac
Thursday VincentI guess I'm not too good at coming up w/combos for Thursday. I keep wanting to make up something cute, like Thursday Storm or Thursday Raine. :D Proud adopter of 8 PPs: !!!!!!Carmina Lorraine, Ivah Marie, Gloriana Celeste, Ronan Barclay, Clive Ian, Amos Logan; ~~Matilda Jane, Vannie Lawrence"A rattlesnake that doesn't bite teaches you nothing." -Jessamyn West (1903-1984)
