Bell
My husband is set on naming our daughter something that he can nickname Bell (like Princess Bell). We have settled on Abella something or Aminta Bella.
I like Abella Minta, but I do not like it enough to name my daughter that.
Here are some other ideas we have to go with Abella.Abella Mira
Abella Mitra
Abella Mara
Abella Cyan / Cyanne -The first is CY-an. The second is cy-ANNE.
Abella KeraWhat do you think or do you like Aminta Bella better? What other middle names would go with Abella? The only guideline is that none of the middle names can begin with the letter S.
Thanks in advance.
Kelly

Abella MitraI think Abella Mitra is beautiful. Personally (and I know people will disagree with this), I can't stand names like Arabelle/Arabella, Isabelle/Isabella, Gabrielle/Gabriella because I think they sound pretentious, as if they were named aiming for majesty but fall short by missing originality. They make me think people didn't know any long or beautiful names for their child so they added on the "elle" or "ella" ending. I think length and "elle" endings are not necessarily what make a name beautiful. Abella is outside of many people's normal frame of reference, perhaps, but it's beautiful without the canned quasi-grace of another typical "elle" or "ella" name.

I vote Abella still!
When did you add Mira and Mitra to you list? These are new to me.
I like Mira better than Mitra. Mitra sounds nickname-ish, imo.
Ignore marie's caps.
Ciarda and Shannon are overly nice. :)
Sorry this is an odd post. I'm still steaming about that Winter thread you sent me.-Seda*

If you are going to call her Bell, I would spell it BELLE, so it looks feminine, whereas Bell just looks like the word for a bell you ring. Bell is also a last name (ie. Alexander Graham Bell).

Please read this, as well.Princess Belle's name is actually spelt with the 'e'. It's French for "beautiful". Bell could be considered a name in it's own right, though, as it appears quite frequently on medieval records. That might be due to misspelling, or it might have been on purpose. Who knows?Abella, as I'm sure you know, is a name, contrary to what other people have said. As far as I know, it's a feminisation of the Biblical name Abel (Abela and Abella are both legit, as far as I've read) meaning "breath". I think it's quite pretty. Abella Mira is my favourite of the Abella combos.I do like Aminta Bella more, though. Aminta is a gorgeous, underused, classical name. You could still use the nn Belle, too. I don't think it would seem unusual.Just in case you want them, some more Belle / Bell names:
Belinda
Belphoebe
Bellatrix
Belén (Belen)
Amabel
Annabel, Annabelle, Annabella
Christabel
Claribel
Isabel, Isobel, Isabelle, Isabella
Maribel, Maribelle, Maribella
Rosabel, Rosabelle, Rosabella
Mirabel, Mirabelle, Mirabella
Maybelle
Arabel, Arabella, Arabelle
DulcibellaRegardless of what you decide to name your baby, you should come back and let us know! Best of luck. :)Shannon

please read thisI would advise you to spell it Belle and not Bell, like the word (ding-dong, ding-dong). Belle spelled her name like that in B&B. I like Arabella (air-a-BELL-a) and agree with Array about Abella. It seems ugly and made up. Another suggestion is Isabelle. PLEASE DON'T NAME HER ABELLA!For the middle names, I like Mira, Mara, and Cyan. The other two don't go well with Arabella/Abella. My favorite mn is Christine, though. Arabella Marie, Arabella Christine, Arabella Tarah, Arabella Clarisse, Arabella Georgiana, and Arabella Diane are my favorites. Isabelle Cyanne, Isabelle Pauline, Isabelle Winona, and Isabelle Mara are good. "Dance like no one's watching."

Abella is a name.Abella and Abela are legitimate feminisations of the Biblical name Abel. If you don't personally like it, that's fine, but your dislike of it certainly doesn't NECESSITATE CAPS LOCK. I don't mean to be rude, but you were pretty much yelling at her, which was uncalled for. Shannon

I far prefer the spelling Belle, because Bell just reminds me of the word. It's a name in its own right and you don't need a longer form in my opinion, but I suggest Bellamy for a girl, nn Belle.(It might be a region difference, but I thought that the word "Cyan" was stressed on the second syllable anyway, whether you spell it Cyanne or not.)_____________________________________________________________________"There are few more distressing sights than that

Hey Kell!Abella Mira: I LOVE this, mostly because Mira is my favorite name
Abella Mitra: Abella Minta sounds better
Abella Mara: Very pretty, and a good alternative to Maura to honor yourself : )
Abella Cyan / Cyanne: Still don't really care for either one
Abella Kera: Is this KER-a or KEER-a? It's not bad either way.
Suggestions:Abella Etienne: It's technically a boy's name, but it's the French form of Stefan (Seda suggested it first).Abella Kellan: (See Kelan) Also technically a boys name, but some what honor's yourself.
Keep me updated! ; )

I like Aminta Bella a LOT better. While I don't like Bella at all (it's the sound a bullfrog makes), Abella looks, to be quite frank, absolutely atrocious. It honestly kind of scares me--I see it and I picture brains (since it's a bit too cerebellum for my tastes). There's something about it that makes me want to get a wooden stake; this name bothers me and I haven't the faintest idea why. It's one of those that I just react really strongly to, like Anna. I'd advise you to please, please, PLEASE don't use it, but since I'll probably never meet your little girl, my opinion doesn't matter too much. ;)Why not Aminta Belle? That's lovely. Araminta Belle would be even nicer, or Arabella Somethingorother.Array

Ditto, I vote Arabella (actually, Isabella or Gabriella...)

I don't care for Arabella or Araminta. They sound overdone to me.
Abella (Uh-BELL-uh) is Assyrian. It means "child".Funny- the frogs around here must be too small to say "Bella". Most just say "Cree-Cree-Cree-Cree". We have small ones. You should have never told me that. All I can see is frogs now and we're naming her Bell no matter what. Perhaps our frog will be able to say her name.Kelly
