I think French-speaking people have far better things to do with their time than give a foreign girl named Rene "weird looks". Despite living in Scotland where Mc- and Mac- surnames are hugely popular, accounting for about a quarter of surnames, if I met an American girl named McKayla I wouldn't give her a "weird look". I'd know fine well it was a cultural difference. I might not like McKayla - indeed I don't - but it wouldn't baffle me and it certainly wouldn't cause me to be rude and give someone a strange look._____________________________________________________________________"There are few more distressing sights than that
