I think Liza is a great name, whether as a nickname or a full name. (It helps, I suppose, that I like Liza Minelli, hee. Arthur is one of my favourite movies.) I knew a Liza who was probably the loudest, most opinionated creature to walk the planet--but in a good way, if you know what I mean.
Since I really don't like the name Elizabeth (and like even less Elisabeth), I'd recommend Liza alone. There's much less chance that people will try to call her Liz, and personally, I think Liza is a great deal more interesting than Elizabeth. Much spunkier--but with the benefit of a history long enough to be taken seriously.
