Celebrity Baby
Denise Richards gave birth to another daughter named Lola on Wednesday night. Baby Lola was born at a Los Angeles hospital and weighed in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces. The little princess is welcomed by her big sister Sam. Richards' estranged husband, Charlie Sheen, was in the room when the little girl was born. Opinions on the name? What about on the sib set?I'm not too fond of Lola, but it does seem celebrity-trendy at the moment. I don't like Sam at all for a girl, especially by itself; it's okay as a NN for Samantha but by itself it sounds so masculine imo. I think the sib set doesn't go together at all. Lola is so feminine compared to Sam. But nevertheless, congratulations to Denise, Charlie, & Sam. Welcome to the world Baby Lola!----------------------------------------------------------------------Jennifer Nicole

I always think of Kelly Ripa when I hear that name.

I don't like Lola. It isn't a strong sounding name to me, and sounds childish. I do like Layla and Lilah._____________________________________________________________________"My universe is laced around your wrist; I am the bracelet you sport."Elinor

I like Lola. I think its really cute and feminine but I don't think I'd use it to be honest. I do think that Sam is a little too masculine on its own and would probably be better as a nn for Samantha.

Hiya,My first encounter with Lola was about two years ago. I used to work with a woman (approx. late-
twenties) who's name is Laura. She knew tons when she was younger and her parents called
her Lola as a fun nickname. It was also one of her first attempts at her name. So she uses Lola
as a nn and now I can see it for Laura, Lauren, etc. but never as a first name.I agree with everyone else too, about Sam being too masculine. I saw Charlie, Denise & newborn
Sam a magazine for celebrity parents or something and I thought Sam was a boy. But oh well.xx Cait xx

Lola is one of my least favorite names on the planet. It sounds like an aging, homely stripper to me-just my opinion. I have never understood the fascination with the name in Hollywood-Lila is so much prettier! Sam and Lola sound strange together and I find both names awful. Poor Sam with a man's name and no formal name to use instead. Oh well-Charlie and Denise are strange people anyway.

You are right. It could be an aging stripper. Sam is awful with no formal name. Maybe she will change it.

I think Lola is nice as a nn for Charlotte or Dolores, I agree with Array about the popularity of it ... Sam and Lola are awful together imo Alice
My favourite names are Iris Lyra, Freya Jasmine, Henry Atticus and Finn AndersonProud big sister to Sophie and Isabel

I have always really liked the name Lola, as the Kinks song reminds me of being a teenager (although i am not that old, only 25!). i could never use it though as it is too popular for me at the moment, i would rather my kid was not one of 5 in their class.
I really don't like Sam on a girl and i think Sam and Lola make an awful sib set as sisters as it sounds like it should be a boyand girl as Sam is so laddy adn Lola so girly. As brother and sister though it is sweet

I don't get it! Lola is so feminine and Sam is so masculine. How unfair and a bad sibling set IMO. Either go feminine or unisex. Pick a style.Lola is so celeb trendy. Kelly Ripa, Chris Rock(right?), Madonna, who else? I know there are many more. Oh, Hilary Duff's dog.

Annie Lenox and Jennie Garth too.Roman is definitely a popular celeb boy name.(I can't even name them all.)A really bad celeb sibling set is George Stephanolopolos and Ali Wentworth's daughters: Elliott and Harper. Not feminine at all.

I love the name Lola! I'd name my daughter that! But Lola is way to popular among celebrities. I like Sam on a boy, but not a girl. But saying that, Sam is a mini-me of her dad Charlie and (more when she was younger) looks like a boy. And if Lola is a mini-me of Denise and really girly the names will suit them.

I totally agree with everything you said. Maybe Charlie pushed for the name Sam and Denise named Lola. I hope Lola looks exactly like her mother!!!!

Please help fight punctuation abuse...By only using one exclamation mark in the future. Punctuation marks generally don't like being crammed together in groups; they're surprisingly anti-social, you see. This is your first and only warning. If next time you overuse punctuation like this, I will be forced to rescue the punctuation and put them up for adoption to good homes. You will not be able to adopt the punctuation you misused. I'm not doing this to be mean, I'm only thinking of the poor little punctuation marks' best interests.P.S. PP = Punctuation Pet.

I think Charlie did push for the name Sam, although they both agreed on it. If I'm not mistaken, Sam was named after a cat that Charlie once had. I read on another board (so I'm not sure if it's true or not) that before they split, they had decided to name the baby Charlie either way. It was after they split that Denise changed her mind and the baby's name. So, perhaps you're right & Denise did push for Lola. That would explain the two very different styles.----------------------------------------------------------------------
