It was my favorite name as a kid. I still like it, but it isn't something I would use.

I like it, you don't hear it too often these days. One of my cousins has apparently always liked Stephanie too.

Too 80's, to mainstream,I prefer more classic not so often used names

I like it. Stephanie gets a bad rap for being an overused 80s name, but as someone who was born in the middle of the 80s I always have known oodles more Katies and Sarahs and Elizabeths than Stephanies. Stephanie's a feminine form of a classic name, not a made-up one like so many of the currently popular choices. The meaning's great, too. I think Stephanie gets unfairly bashed.

I prefer the spelling Stephany. I've always pictured a plain, boring girl, so it's not really to my taste, but still an OK name. Bit dated.

I went to school with a lot of them. I don't think that it's a bad name, but it's very boring to me.

I like it. I think it's timeless, suits any age, and will age well.

I also know a girl who spells her names as Stefanie. Her parents said it was to honor her Father, but her Father spells his name as Stephen, so that was some sort of mistake on their part, I think.

I've known at least a dozen Stephanies in my lifetime; such is the curse of being born in the late 80s. ;) The market for Stephanies, in my opinion, is pretty saturated just now. There are more Stephs than you can shake a stick at, so I wouldn't use it, myself.

It's not a bad name, though. A girl named Stephanie won't be teased or mocked, and it'll look fine on a job application. It's a little boring just now, but if you like it, it certainly won't hurt her to have the name.

I've always liked Stephanie. It sounds like a fun and upbeat name to me. I do get kind of the image that Stephanie's are party girls, but in reality only one Stephanie I know is a party girl. The rest I don't know about. Oddly enough, there have always been a lot of Stephanie's in the next few years behind me in school but I hardly knew any in my grade.

the second is Full House, the middle child was Stephanie. I dont know why I think of her, but maybe because of the episode where she wanted to change her name to Dawn because kids called her Step-on-me...

My best friend is a Stephanie, and let me tell you, lacking in personality she is NOT. She was very popular in high school and always had lots of boyfriends. She's a great girl, so I like the name, although I think it would be hard to carry off for a bookish, shy girl.

Sorry. i have always hated it. it is so bland and lacking in personality. i have known 2 and they are so dull. it is not a horrible name, as such, but i dont know why anybody would use it when there are so many prettier names.
To me it is like calling your child Ethel or something.
