I love it, too bad "malin" means "bad, evil" in French. I love the nn Malinka.

I don't care for it. I don't like the sound of it, and I see it as a surname, like actor Joshua Malina.

I fell in love with the name Melina after watching an old Melina Mercourri (sp?) movie growing up. The "Mal" part of Malina makes me think of the Latin root "mal-" meaning bad. That's not to say that I couldn't get over that, I do for Malcolm, a favorite of mine. (Non-Latin root)I think it's more the Melina thing that prevents me from truely appreciating Malina. It does have a cute meaning and if you are Polish, or have Polish roots, then it would make a very nice name. Just expect spelling issues: Melina, Milena, etc.
