WDYTO Simon?
We've been reading Lord of the Flies (I know, I know, not the most pleasant book to get names from! ;)) in English, and I've decided that I really like Simon.. both the name and the character. It's not a name that you hear often (at least over here), but at the same time it's still familiar to most people. WDYT?

It's my older brothers name and you're right, you don't here it all the time, but it's not totally unknown either.

It's okay. I like Simone (the female version) better.

I prefer the French pron though, and the Hebrew one (Shimon - shee-mon).

You poor thing! We had to read that book last year...I'm now a member of the "Lord Of The Flies" hatelisting. ;-)I like the name Simon, but it has weedy connotations for me.
For every five people that like something, there are three that don't, and think that makes them better.

A smart little British boy with glasses. Or sexy ala Simon LeBon.When I was a kid there was a segment on Captain Kangaroo of a cartoon boy named Simon and the theme song went :Well you know my name is Simon

Sorry, but I dislike Simon's sound. It has a slimy, almost sinister feel to it lol. That's probably just me :-)_____________________________________________________________________"[David Gest] looks like he's had a lot of plastic surgery done, but not by a plastic surgeon."Elinor

I love it - plus the character :)Most people I mention it to think it's 'boring' but I have only met one Simon (in his 30's) so he'd probably be the only one!Alice

Simon is a great name, and it's on my list. Apart from the English pron. I also like the way it is pronounced over here (SHEEM-own). Simon Finn is a combo I like very much.

I think it's a great name. My dad's called Simon and he knows about a million in his age group but I hardly know any young Simons, so I think it's a good name to pick! I think it's the same with the name Mark - lots of people criticise it for being too common but if you look at lists of popular baby names, it's not on there.
To me both names conjure up images of strong but gentle men that everyone likes. Can't imagine them so well on a baby but I can get past that 'cos I think it's more important to get a name that will fit an adult.

I don't care for it. I don't like the sound of it, and I do not think it's masculine.
