I think it's masculine and surnamey and it makes me think of "de Lagny" (duh-lah-nyee), "from Lagny", and I wonder why someone would name a kid after Lagny, this awful town where the last -still commented on!- event is the arrival of Joan of Arc more than 500 years ago.
