Marguerite
What do you think of the name Marguerite for a girl?I first heard this name several years ago (it was the name of one of the secretaries in the school office at my school), and since then I've thought that Marguerite is a beautiful name. Also, if you like it, what do you think would be some good middle names for Marguerite?

I find Marguerite (mahr-guh-reet) very old fashioned and peasant, and a bit too common. Sorry.

I think it is a very pretty name !! The French spelling of Margaret. It was my ggg grandmother's name so I like it for that reason. Her daughter's name was Marcelline so I was thinking Marguerite Marcelline or Marguerite Adele, Maguerite Sebastiana, Marguerite Delima, Marguerite Brigitte or Marguerite Anne Marie .

I like it. It's pretty and feminine, and definitely ONLY for a girl (by the way you wrote that post it almost looked like you were saying it's a potential boys' name too LOL... you never know these days.)

Marguerite is definitely not one to be a crossover! The reason for the phrase "for a girl" in the original post referred to the name being used on a young girl vs. an older woman (who that secretary I mentioned was).

I was only kidding. :)

I strongly dislike its sound. In America you'd get mar-gyoo-REET which isn't remotely attractive to my ears. It also seems a bit over-the-top as a first name, so I'd probably keep it as a middle name._____________________________________________________________________"Dream like you'll live forever. I think it's a very beautiful name. It needs a short mn, though.

I always first think of Marguerite Henry, the author best known for Misty of Chincoteague. I never really liked horses, but I read as many of her books as I could, because my dad loved her when he was young, and I wanted to be like him. :) I always loved her name--and I really did enjoy King of the Wind. Great book, that.Marguerite strikes me as a name that doesn't come with baggage. It's in a class with Rosemary, except without any bubblegum pop tunes to go with it. It could be an old woman, yes, but if you tilt your head a bit, it's very clear that Marguerite still has enough charm for mainstream American culture to handle.I like Marguerite Rose, even though I'm not fond of Rose at all. It just sounds right, for some reason. Marguerite Florence, Marguerite Nancy, Marguerite Laura, Margeurite Clara, Marguerite Paula, or Marguerite Sara would all work nicely, too. A two-syllable name (preferably ending in A) with the stress on the first syllable helps to balance out Marguerite's lengthiness.Good choice. As you can tell by all of this over one name, I'm definitely behind Marguerite. :)Array

I also like Marguerite Rose very much. It was the mn I was going to suggest even before I read this post. Two thumbs up!

I don't care for Marguerite. I think of the word margarita, and I think it lacks prettiness. And, while I don't care for Margaret, I prefer it over Marguerite. But, I fully prefer Margo. As for middle names, I suggest Marguerite Virginia, Marguerite Elizabeth, and Marguerite Katherine.Edit: Formatting.
