Nyla
A couple I know had a baby girl and named her Nyla. I'd never heard that name before. And thought it was very nice. It's a Greek name that means winner. I was wondering what you thought about it.

Where'd you get the meaning "winner"?And if it was from a site like Babynames.com, you can almost certainly bet it's false, since the vast majority of name sites with the word "baby" in the title are notoriosuly unreliable. That said, I like the look and sound of Nyla. But it reminds me of Britney Spears's failed restaurant, and I would prefer to for sure what its meaning is before making any more judgments.

There was a girl a few years older than me at school called Nyla. She was really sweet and nice (and enough older than me so that she seemed really, really mature even though she was only about 15), so it has good connotations for me. I like it, but I wouldn't use it.

this is what Britney Spears named her restaurant that went bankrupt. I believe it was for New York (NY) and Louisiana (LA). I think it is alright as a name but is ruined by association now for me.
