Bethanie
Would it be awful to spell Bethany as Bethanie instead? I know it's not an established variant as such, but I far prefer the form with IE. It isn't "kre8iv" to me (that would be Bethaneigh, Bethni or the likes), but I'm curious as to what others think :-) Thanks in advance._____________________________________________________________________"Dream like you'll live forever. I've never been a fan of Bethany. It's always been in the same class as Amber and Summer to me -- kind of low-class (no offense to anyone, it's JMO!). Spelling it a different way just makes it confusing for the person, too, I believe. I do have a good friend named Bethany. She's made me like the name a little more. But she says that growing up, when she first said her name, people thought she was saying "Stephanie". :b But the name is more common now, so I don't think that would be a problem.

My oldest friend is named Bethanie :-)We've been friends since 1993. I prefer Bethany, but I'm so used to seeing Bethanie that I don't mind it. Her mn is Jane btw.:-)

I think Bethanie is fine. It's a lovely name either way you spell it. I just don't like girls names that end abruptly with I or with EE (Bethani or Bethanee).Leslie edd 4/17/05. Baby should be arriving via c-section April 12th!

Well I normally don't like alternative spellings unless they are widely accepted and/or the original spelling looks awkward/weird to me somehow, which Bethany doesn't. BUT... Bethanie isn't all that bad. I do think it looks more cutesy but besides that, I guess I have no real problem with it. I still prefer Bethany though.

Bethany is one of my favorite names and I've always really liked the spelling Bethanie myself but wasn't sure which spelling I would actually use. In my subdivision directory there is a four year old girl named Bethanie so I guess it's more common than we think! :) Very pretty!

I would immediately think the parent(s) was/were trying to be different, thinking that by changing the spelling of the name, it would change the name itself (those troublesome creative spellings!). Bethanie looks awkward to me, while Bethany looks much simpler. With the spelling Bethanie, there would probably be spelling problems, as people would most likely assume the spelling is Bethany.I think it's a lovely name, with the spelling Bethany only.P.S. For some reason, I see parents who really want to be cutes-y with their twin girls, by naming their daughters Stephanie and Bethanie. Haha.
