Wdyto Marilla?
I was looking through my newest Baby Name Book, when my eyes caught it.
I know it's very "Anne of the Green Gable", but I suddenly remembered that I loved it watching it as a teen. Then to promptly forget how much I loved it back then.
Seeing it in the book, got me hooken on it all over again. And I always did love the "Marilla" character.
So, wdyto it?

Marilla is listed on the net as either being short for Amarilla or a variant of Muriel. It is Amarillo that I am actually trying to get info on since it is a Harry Potter name.
Strange note - Marilla was in love with Gilbert Blyth's father and it was her who encouragaed Anne to pursue Gilbert.
PS. For a funny take on the Anne of Green Gables story, I would recommend that you pick up a copy of Canned Lit.
Also not that Anne's favorate name was Cordellia - and in Atwood's Cat's Eye, a woman with a family tradition of naming daughters after best friends spends most of the book complaining about a girl named Cordellia but names her daughter Annie.

Mirella- nice name
Gorilla!
Hmmmm....it's intersting, isn't it? But, I'm not sure, it's not one of my favourite names but I can totally see why you like it. :)
Forme, it is 100% connected to the "Anne of Green Gables" character. I do love that book, but didn't care for Marilla - she was too uptight for my liking lol. Matthew was a far nicer character, but sadly his name is so generic that it doesn't particularly honour him.

Its Diane...not Diana. (From what I remember)
No, the elder lady Marilla, and her brother Matthew, was the one's who adopted Anne. Albeit by mistake, since they wanted a boy to help out on the farm, and the orphanage send them Anne. They kept Anne though, and didn't send her back.
Can't remember the friends name on hand. Try IMDb and search for either "Anne of the Green Gables" or simply search for Megan Follows (The one playing Anne), and you'll easily find it.
But now I have to find it also.
