Nadejda/Nadezhda
What do you think of Nadezhda / Nadejda? Which spelling would you use? I know a woman by this name, and although it's unusual, I really like the sound and the meaning (and it suits the woman I know). Her children (I've posted this before, I'll post it again just for kicks) are:
Blue River (g)
Silvan Sky (g)
Soren Rain (b)
Pele (b)
The kids all go by both names most of the time. The father's name is David.

I prefer the spelling Nadejda too - the "zh" spelling just looks like it's phonetic in English, and it's sort of too phonetic.
I think it's a lovely name. I like many consonant sounds that are unusual in English, like that "dezhd" part. I don't think it's too much to ask English speakers to say. I'm afraid I'm pretty disconnected from the name's cultures though. I only recently ran across it for the first time, actually, when I figured out that Nadia comes from Nadejda.
Silvan Sky and Soren Rain are alright, only I'd make Silvan a boy name; Blue River is too corny and Pele .. well, maybe for a dog, but it's too silly to use Pele for a boy imo. Everyone's heard of Pele. Can't the kid have his own identity? Oh well. It's a cool name.

Nadejda and Nadezhda both look very sloppy to me; I don't care for them. If I had to choose a spelling, then Nadejda. From the other names, I like River, but only for a boy.
