Lyra.
This is a name that my sister-in-law is considering for the baby. I really love it, but my brother is set on Sophia Grace. The baby is due in late April/early May. What names do you think go with it?Siri

I like Lyra. Couldn't your brother just settle for Lyra Sophia or Lyra Grace? I especially like the former.~ Arcadia

I love both Lyra and Sophia, but if the middle name Grace is staying (which I find very filler-ish), I'd go with the more unusual first name - Lyra._____________________________________________________________________"You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true."Elinor

I love Lyra! It reminds me of Lyla!I like Sophia Grace, but Grace is being murdered as a middle name lately.I vote a mixture. Lyra Sophia or Sophia Lyra. The first gets my vote. Wdyt?-Seda*

Lyra: the name of the heroine in the His Dark Materials books! But not outrageously associated with it, I don't think. I hope they use it. I think Sophia Grace is lovely, but I've seen it so much, it's positively generic to me. I guess if you don't hang out on naming sites you don't get that impression (until she goes to school)..Anyway. Some instant combosLyra Catherine
Lyra Millicent
Lyra Sophia
Lyra Camille
Lyra June
Lyra Judith
Lyra Marlene
Lyra Justine

Lyra Shannon
Lyra Darcy

rofl, that's exactly how I feelI think Sophia Grace is lovely, but I've seen it so much, it's positively generic to me. I guess if you don't hang out on naming sites you don't get that impression (until she goes to school). That's what I think whenever people choose names like Connor, Emma, etc. Then I have to stop and remind myself, "Self, not everyone hangs out at name sites and reads the birth announcements like you do." Then I think, "Well, they should!" :P
I'm too lazy to think of a clever signature.

I think Lyra is lovely. While I prefer LEE-rah to LYE-rah, it's not at all a bad pronunciation. It reminds me of (of course) the Pullman series, which I didn't enjoy particularly well. (On the other hand, I only read Northern Lights, and I keep meaning to read the other two before writing off the series.) I thought it was well-written and all...just not for me.Hm. I think that Lyra Sophie would be a nice compromise, particularly if Sophie was pronunced soh-FEE.Array

I think it's a really beautiful name. Lyra Kathleen is ok my list :-)"A Rose by any other name would smell as sweet"...apparently Romeo wasn't into names :-)- Chelsea

I LOVE Lyra! I've always pronounced it LEER-a though. Sophia Grace is very pretty too though. : )

Sophia Grace, hands down! Lyra, said really fast, sounds like liar. I just find it too girly.

Wonderful.Lyra is a little spunky and unusual while still sounding elegant. I love it. Then again, I love Sophia too...SUCH a bummer that it's so popular these days! So I prefer Lyra, and I agree, I like the way it fits with the siblings. Let us know how it turns out.~ Caitlín

Is it pronounced like LEER-ah or LYE-rah? The first prn. is pretty but makes me think of Italian money. :b The spelling also makes me think of Lycra. But I definitely like it more than Sophia Grace, which is just too popular imo.

I've always thought Lyra (pronounced LYE-ra) was beautiful. Sophia Grace looks boring in comparison because it's so damn popular right now.

LYE-raSophia Grace is too popular. Lyra is also more romantic, to match Isaac Alyosha and Miranda. (Mira's first name, with her middle name, is Mary. Its not romantic, but it was a family name.) So I think Lyra fits in.Siri

I'm confused (what's new)Is Baby Lyra/Sophia sib to Isaac & Mira or sib to Brianna? I thought she was sib to Brianna.

Isaac and Mira (sorry)Renee's third. Brianna will probably be an only child.Siri (who will be scanning a picture Mira drew of mommy on the operating table, with baby ready to come out)
