Hmmmm.... I don't know. It is one of those single first name deals which has become to a single indiviual in histroyto like Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Heriodites. Erasmus, I believe, was a Catholic priest who sought to reform the church during Martin Luther's time. But, he wanted the reforms to happen within the church, not out of it. This caused divison between the two men.

It's a nice enough name. I think I prefer Rasmus though. : )

yeah, the Erasmus programme is for students who want to spend a year abroad as part of their degree.

Yes, Erasmus is a GREAT...bridge in Rotterdam..terrible as a name..ETA: it does have a great meaning though... Indy

The bridge was named after Erasmus, the Dutch scholar from the Renaissance period.

I thought the same...I thought of erasers, too. Plus, I don't think it's at all masculine. I don't care for it.
