pronunciation of Jessamine... anyone know or willing to take a stab at it?
Hi! I've always liked Jessamine and saw it farther down the board on a list of someone's childhood favorites. I've always pronounced it JESS-uh-mine (mine like "the naming book is MINE!", just how it looks, but have also considered JESS-uh-MEEN as a possible pronunciation. But really, Caroline and Evangeline both sound like "ine" so why wouldn't Jessamine? I looked up Jessamine on this site though and it says it's a form of Jasmine and is pronounced JESS-uh-minn. Ohh, never would have guessed that, but I guess Jasmine ends in -ine and is pronounced -in. So, what do you think, which way is it said? Anyone heard this name before? Anyone have pronunciation opinions? Oh and I don't think it's some silly creative spelling because I originally saw the name in a wildflower book.~SHILOH~

I have always heard it as JESS-ah-min, but I could see probable pronunciations of JESS-ah-mine and JESS-ah-meen. I prefer the -min version. :)

I say JESS-uh-meen. It's the way I've always pronounced it ever since I saw it. It's one of my favorites. I don't like JESS-uh-minn at all.

Processed “cheese”. The word should always, like Soviet “democracy”, be framed in quotes, for no matter what the law may say, I refuse to call this cheese

to really confuse youI met a girl named Jessamine and she pronounced her name...Jasmine. jaz-min. At first I thought I had misheard but everyone else called her Jasmine too. I must've looked confused because she told me her parents were hippies and liked the name Jasmine but not the spelling. When I initially met her I said jes-suh-min.And on a side note, I say Caroline with a LINE and Evangeline with a LEAN.

I pronounce Jessamine as Jess-uh-minn. I don't know anyone with the name, nor have I heard it while out and about, nor do I ever see it in birth announcements. I don't care for it, as I don't like how it looks, or how it's pronounced. I much prefer Jasmine, or, if you want the Jess sound, then Jessica.

I know someone named Jessamyn and it's pronounced "Jez-ah-min." I assume Jessamine is pronounced the same way. Or, it could be like Carloyn vs. Caroline, Jessamyn vs. Jessamine. I'm not sure. But i like Jessamyn much better.
