The name always reminds me of the elodea plant, which, while a lovely green, is a kind of seaweed.
That fact has never let me attach myself to Elodie (I pronunce it the way you do, but I think it's eh-loh-DEE in France), but I like the similar Eloise.
Elodie Fern? Hee--very green names. Elodie Flora? I'm liking shorter names with it, because it has a cute sort of feel to it. Elodie Rhea? Elodie Iris? Elodie Frances?
I really like Elodie Frances.
