The French pron. is more like eh-lo-dee, but there's no reason English speakers can't say ELL-oh-dee, just like they say JOO-lee for Julie and mih-SHELL for Michelle :-)

The prononciation is correct. It's nmsaa though.

The name always reminds me of the elodea plant, which, while a lovely green, is a kind of seaweed.

That fact has never let me attach myself to Elodie (I pronunce it the way you do, but I think it's eh-loh-DEE in France), but I like the similar Eloise.

I don't care for it, as I see it as a nickname for Melodie (or Melody). It just doesn't feel complete to me, and I just don't like the sound of it (or of Melody, as I see that as a word). I pronounce it as you do. I suggest Elodie Mae.
