Re: Emerson

I think that if I was going to use it (and I wouldn't, but for a boy, and only after my favourite transcendentalist), I would use Emerson Lyra or Emerson Lyric--or possibly Emerson Mireille.
As a middle name (I'd tolerate it more there, because it's a middle name and you're thus allowed to do whatever you like with it), I think it'd go well with either a very short or a very long first name. Marie Emerson, Violet Emerson, Eloise Emerson, Coralie Emerson.
In either case, I'd use a very feminine name to go with it, and preferably a feminine name with some history and meaning to me. And so I'd probably end up using something like Paulina / Pauline Emerson or Coralie Emerson, or I'd use Emerson Mira, Emerson Ruth, or Emerson Lisette.
