Justinian and Theodora?
Would you use either of these names for your child today? WDYT? Do you prefer Justin and Thea? I think Justinian and Theodora have potential ....

I like them both they are elegant names that could quite easily be shortened to Justin and Thea if the children concerned want nicknames

Justinian doesn't look right imo. It either looks like an adjective to describe someone who's acting like a Justin, whatever that means, or a combo of Justin + Ian. Theodora is gorgeous, though. Unfortunately, I don't think Justin and Theodora sound like a good pair. Even Justin and Thea are too different, imo, but a little better match style-wise maybe.

Weren't Justinian and Theodora at one point emperor and emperess of the Byzantine empire? I like both names, as well as the nn Thea for Theodora. Theda and Dora are nice, too. Justin is NMS.Shannon

Yes (m) .....Yes they were emperor and emperess of the Byzantine Empire. I have a minor in Art History and I fell in love with the mosiacs of that period. Also considered naming children after them but vetoed firmly by DHC x

I like both quite a bit. Justinian is really cool--I like names with -ian endings, like Octavian and Aurelian. Theodora is also nice. I knew a wonderfully kind girl named Theodora; I think it trumps Thea easily. It's not too old sounding--just classic.Plus, they were both of them saints, and I've been very into religious names as of late. Good names!Array

Not together! :-pActually, I don't think Justinian works anymore. It sounds long and complicated, and unnecessarily fancy. Justin is nms either. It sound rather redneck, probably because I've known some rednecks with the name.Theodora is lovely. I've been liking it a lot recently. I like the nn Thea too, but I prefer both of them with French pronunciation: Théodora (tay-o-DO-ra) and Théa (TAY-a). I like Théodore nn Théo even better (for a boy only, of course). The frustrating thing is I don't like Theo without an accent at all. Perhaps I should just move to France :-)~ CaitEdited spelling :-)

Justin is trendy and Thea means goddess. I love Theodora, and Justinian is nice.
Oh, and I love Dora.

Justinian isn't a name, it's a description (something that is "like Justin" or "of Justin"). Well, he was an Emperor, but that's how it sounds to me! Justin is ok but nms.I like Theodora nn Thea

Justinian is a little over the top for me, so yes I do prefer Justin in that case.
Theodora on the other hand is lovely. I'd probably just end up calling the kid Dora in the end though :P.
Thea is also quite nice but I do like Theodora better.
Very nice :)
