wow all of these are too cute for my taste or else trying to hard to make their boy's name sound masculine. The only ones that can be salvaged are...
Diana
Nora -love this
CarolynBOYS:
Conrad -I don't really love either either but I'm putting it just because I think Heart of Darkness was a great book

GIRLS:
Staci - ugh, Stacy is bad enough
Bunnie - nice nickname for a five year old, but will be ridiculous when she grows up. Poor thing.
Diana - very nice
Nicole - OK
Kathleen - adorable variant of Catherine
Amanda - I like this name - and a secret ace if you want to use Amy :-)
Nora - I like it. It is better with the H dropped from the back
Paris - Ok, but it will never be a favorite
Terry - as a nn for Teresa, I have no objections, but just too tomboyish for me.
Carolyn - nms
Virginia - lovely
Barbara - nmsaa, plus I know two Barbaras and they are both horribleBOYS:
Hap - OMG..!
Charles - nice
Oleg - too Russian for my taste, but OK
Kevin - OK
Jimmy - fine, but as a full name, too kiddish. Nice as a nn for James, though
Conrad - great name!
Joe - nms
Gary - nms
Lionel - I1m happy to see it on a child!

Yikes! Bunnie? Paris? Need I say what I am thinking? The only girls' name I like off this list is Virginia. Conrad and Charles are cute.

GIRLS:
Staci - dislike the spelling; Stacey and Stacy are cute and haven't been used in a while
Bunnie - ridiculous
Diana - love this name! I think of Diana in "Anne of Green Gables"
Nicole - I've always hated this name, but I haven't seen it as a first name on little girls in a while, so I'm starting to lose my aversion against it. Really dislike it as a middle name, though.
Kathleen - like it, very nice. Especially with nickname Katie/Kate instead of Kathy
Amanda - love it, despite its popularity. I don't think it's dated
Nora - very nice!
Paris - no
Terry - no. I prefer Theresa or Tessa.
Carolyn - nice, but I prefer Caroline.
Virginia - nice. To prevent virgin jokes, nickname Ginny is nice and very Harry Potter, which kids'll love
Barbara - haven't heard this on a baby girl in a long time. Still sounds a bit dated to me, but is ripe for a comeback in about 5 to 10 years. Barbie was a cute nickname before the doll, now it's out of the question. Sigh ...BOYS:
Hap - no
Charles - great. Love nickname Charlie
Oleg - cool
Kevin - okay. I always think of "Home Alone"
Jimmy - prefer James on its own or nicknamed Jamie
Conrad - very nice
Joe - love it, even on its own. Personally, I'd use it as a nickname for Joseph.
