Dalton? WDYT?
Heard parents in walmart call their little boy *guess he was 3-4* Dalton. Actually, he ran right in front of me and my shopping cart *No, I didn't hit him..* and his mom yelled at him to get back to their cart..
Anyway what do you think of the name Dalton?
Thought it was interesting, I've actually never heard it before, I'd never use it.. but it wasn't terrible in my opinion.
(edited to remove H in title..)

Three bad things going for it: 1) It's a surname, and these are intrinsically kind of cold and informal and the more I see them, the more boring they're becoming, too; 2) Having seen Roadhouse a bit too often on cable, this name is ruined for me (cheesy movie, cheesy lead character with the name); 3) Doesn't help that I'm from GA, and Dalton, GA is the "carpet capital" of the world AND a major player in the sweepstakes for youngest teen pregnancy levels per capita.
It's quite interesting and unusual, but too modern-sounding for my taste. Although it isn't common in itself, it blends in with all these other -ton names, giving it a popular feel.
great name
I like this name, partly cos it has a weird significance to me, but I'd only use it as a mn

There is a boy about 9 yo named Dalton who visits near my cabin. I like the name it is very boyish sounding and kind of a western cowboy name.
I instantly think of the measurement of molecular mass, the Dalton. I work with proteins and use the term "kilodaltons" on pretty much a daily basis.
Other than that I think it's one of the stodgier sounding names for a boy.. a bit worse than Walter for old-mannishness. At least Walter can be Wally in affection. Dalton becomes what: Dally? Dalt? Meh.
Anyway, I think it's decent. Just not appealing.

I like it. It's actually within the top 100 names (at least I'm pretty sure it is or close to it).
It reminds me of the book store. Its kind of cute though, but I agree I wouldn't use it
It's nms but I've heard much worse.
I've seen it before, but I haven't met or overheard a Dalton. I don't care for it. I don't think it's very masculine (but it's "male" enough), but it's soo surname-y for my liking (I like some surnames as formal names, but not this one).

I kind of like it, though I wouldn't use it for myself.
