I was just thinking about this name again-I really love it. I like it as a nickname for Alexander-something a bit different from the usual Alex.

I like it both as an independent name and as a nn for Alastair.

I like it as a nn for Alexius or another name (but preferably not Alexander, which is sooo overused).

I like it as an alternative to the lengthy Alexander nn Alex. I would use the name if my boyfriend would let me.

Alec is nice, but not my style at the moment. I used to like it a lot more...I can't remember why it fell out of favour, if there ever was a specific reason.

Alec sounds distinguished and high-class to me. For some reason it sounds to me like the name of a British gentleman who love foxhunting...but I don't know where that comes from.

I don't like Alec as a nn for Alexander. I think it definitely should stand alone. However, I prefer Alexander nn Alex overall.

I don't care for it. I don't like the ending sound...like you're trying to hack something from your throat (I can think of no other way to put it!). I much prefer Alexander.
