Antony/Tony
What do you think of Antony? Not Anthony, which I do like as well but not the subject at the moment. But Antony. Antony is growing on me lately, I can't explain it since I've never had any strong feelings for it before. And what do you think of Tony? Either on it's own or as a nn? I might be the only person left who feels this way but I love Tony! I've always liked it but it's never made any of my favorites list, maybe because it's not my usual style.Opinions on either or both names?Much appreciated,Jamie

I don't care for Antony as much as I like Anthony or Anton. I do think Tony is nice as a nickname or by iteself. I've never met an Antony, and it seems to me that the name would be said as Anthony pretty frequently.

I don't care for Antony. It seems incomplete to me. I much prefer Anthony. I used to know a Tony, whose formal name was Antonio. I prefer Tony as a nickname - not a formal name.

Is there a difference between Antony and Anthony then?Besides spelling, I mean.Anthony is one of my favourite names, but I pronounce it "ANT-oh-nee", rather than "AN-tho-nee". I like name Tony as a NN, but prefer the NN Ant.

I was never all that keen on Tony, but my second cousins name is Tony (just plain Tony) and he's really nice, its kind of sweet on the right child.I really cant stand Antony! I love Anthony though!

I agree with the first response that Antony seems VERY Italian, even more so than Anthony or Tony. It's a nice name, but I don't feel strongly either way about it.
I might add that I live in a very ethnically, uh - homogenous area. I know virtually nobody of Italian descent, and I never hear the name Antony in real life. Tony has been quite common around here, though, for both sexes. It's not currently being used.

I'm not wild about Antony...I think Anthony or Anton are both beter, but I'm actually not crazy about any of them. Tony is okay, but only as a nn.For some reason, all three names REALLY remind me of Italian Americans. I can't picture them on people from any other ethnic background.~ Cait
