I don't know if I like it, but it's not too bad. She could go by the nn Ska. WDYT?

It may seem strange, but I don't like Mariska at all. The reason behind this may be that Mariska is considered to be old and hillbilly in Hungary, and it is true, that Riska is the No cow name.However it's always funny to see a Hungarian name gaining popularity in the US. It's not even surprising: names like Marissa, Marina etc. are also quite in these days.

I like Mariska, preferably in the correct pronunciation (ma-RISH-kah; S is pronounced "SH" in Hungarian).I don't like the nn Ska at all; it's far too insubstantial for me, even as a nn. And I don't like the SHKAH sound by itself.Miranda

The nickname Ska I don't like at all. Too Jamaican-musicy. The name overall is ok at best. NMS.

I think its okay...However, I remember someone who was from Russia telling me its a cow name. A name used mostly for cows, like Bessie. However, as long as you're not from Russia or that area, its a fine name. I also prefer Marika.Siri
