Bryony
Can anyone tell me how this is pronounced? Bree-uh-nee, Bry-uh-nee? Something else all together? Thanks!

I have a friend called Bryony. She pronounces it "BRY-uh-nee."
When I first came upon it, which was fairly recently, I assumed it the beginning was BREE, but it's not, it's like BRY (like i/y sound). So, I don't really care for it, but I don't hate it or anything. I guess I like it in theory more than I would on an actual person, esp. since I've never met anyone with the name. :b
As for the pronunciation, I just immediately think of the male name Brian with an "ee" sound on the end, and therefore it seems like an adjective to me, like lumpy or snotty. LOL Like, 'that girl thinks she's so cool, she's acting all Brian-y.' But maybe that's just me, because I know so many Brians. :)

Bryony is prn like brEYE-oh-nee (like your eye). It's my favorite name :-) I absolutely love it!
Bry--the y is said like I, or y--'ai', the o is said 'oh', the ny is 'nee'
So 'Brai-oh-nee'. I've also heard 'Brai-ohn-ee'.
