I'm not fond of Carlie as Carly and variants were trendy in the 80s, so I've known far too many ditsy bimbo girls named Carly, or even worse, Carli (of course, the grand prize for trashiness goes to the parents of a lass named Karli-Dee!). But as an occasional nickname for the graceful Carla it wouldn't be so bad (particularly if you spell it Carlie, which looks nicknamey).

I think it's pretty. I picture her lightly tanned skin w/ wavy dark brown or black hair & eyes to match. A very well rounded girl. I tihnk that's very pretty. I'm not fond of nns

I like Carla but prefer it as a nickname for Carlyn or Carlan. Carlie is an ok nn but Carla is so short, it doesn't need a nickname.

I personally dislike Carla, mainly because of bad associations. Carla reminds me of a chain smoking 60 year old with a bad dye job. (Sorry!) But I do love the nn Carlie. I've always liked Carlie, or Carly, so yeah...But I think Carla and Matilda could definitely work as sisters.

Carla nor Matilda are my style. I do know a Karla, so I've become accustomed to that spelling.
