Julia Roberts' twins names
People.com is reporting that Julia Roberts had her twins in the wee hours of the morning and named them Phineas Walter Moder and Hazel Patricia Moder. Hazel sounds very mature to me; I can't imagine it on a baby. Phineas is OK. I guess they could call him Phin.

I'm not crazy about Phineas but I really, really like Hazel. I just hope it doesn't increase in popularity because of her. I like it's title of an underused classic. It's such a sweet sounding name.

I love them. Not overly common or trendy, imo, but not too out there, either. I personally might not name my children these names, but my first thought at seeing the names was "wow, those are nice." Phinnaeus is a bit much on the spelling, hope it's not a kre8tiv one. Wouldn't be surprised if it has some significance to them (the name and the spelling). I think it makes a great name set, though, and I'm glad everyone's doing well. :)BTW, Julia could've named her kids Table and Lamp and we'd all still love her (I would, anyway). She's just cool like that. :b

Both of the first names seem like the names of 90 year olds. Walter I only like as a middle name and Patricia is an interesting choice beacuse it is dated but not as much the rest of the names.
Anyway while I don't like the names that they chose I do appreciate that they used unusual old fashioned names. My first thought on reading them in the paper was a lot of people on the name board will love those names.

They are not really my style, but at least she didnt name then Peach & Pear...
Phinn is a cute nick name & Hazel will be perfect because I cane see her daughter with curly brownish red hair & hazel eyes.

I admire Julia Roberts as an actress, and think she is one of the best, but she could have done better in naming her children. It seems like celebrities nowadays have no regard when it comes to naming their children.Anyway, Congrats to her and hubby Danny Moder.

Oh, how I agree with you...g

I knew an old wrinkly lady named Hazel when I was a girl, and cannot lose that association. The 'z-l' sounds very ugly and cold to me. Phinnaeus is too long and just sounds slimey and awkward to me. I'm disappointed in Julia Roberts aka Julie Fiona. I expected something more striking like Catherine and William.

Like 'em both (if the use Finn as nn)L)

Oh, the horror. What is wrong with celebrities? Have they no thought for the children?v

I like Phineas, I think it's a really nice name. I don't like Hazel because it's always reminded me of an old lady. I don't like the way it sounds for a little girl. But I am really happy for her, how exciting!

Sorry, ugh. They don't sound remotely attractive to me. Just old and homely.

Just because it could be worse doesn't mean they're not bad. Phinnaeus in particular is cringe-worthy. And I agree with Chazda that old-fashioned and quirky names are actually trendy -- Emma Grace may be overused, but it's a lot more timeless than Phinnaeus!

I think they're very classy and unique!! I love Hazel, and the others are very nice, but nms. Phineas could be really nice with the nn Phin. Much better than others celebrities' kids!!Eva

I don't really like Hazel, but the names are normal, and aren't like the other celebrity babies!

I like both names. :)

So quaint.. who says quaint oldstyle isn't trendy? Phinnaeus? ::eyeroll::Whatever. They could be worse. Hazel Patricia, by itself, is nice. Together, they're antique and overbearing, imo. - chazda

Phineas and Hazel are not absolute favorites of mine but I think both are fine, decent names that go well together.

They're great compared to other names used by stars, like Maddox or Lakee'Sha.

Phineas is nms but it's ok. I like Hazel a lot and can actually see it on a curly haired little girl. Very cute:)At least Julia has a good nameing style and didn't choose to give her kids totally outragous names like some celebs.
