Marie and Michaela
WDYT of the names Marie and Michaela.
Do you prefer Mary to Marie? What about a double name like Marie Louise or Marie Cate.
Also, I absolutely despise Mikayla and it's variants...but I love Michaela...especially when said with a german accent. Do you still think it is overly trendy or trashy even with the original spelling? What do you think of Michy?
thanks!

I tihnk they are both wuite beautiful. I don't like any spelling but Michaela either. my cousin was one of them who were trying to be creative, she named her daughter Machaela. If it were me I'd change that spelling as soon as I could. I was wondering, you seen to also like German names, do you know of any sites where they show the poularity of names in German speaking countries?
No, sorry. I am german though so I just use my own knowledge for popularity questions.
I love Michaela with the mih-KYLE-uh pron.
I love Michaela (this spelling only), but Marie is just nmsaa. I love Mary Louise or Mary Catherine as fns - very classic to me.
I like Marie better than Mary. Mary is still stodgy sounding to me sometimes (not always). Marie was a fave of mine for a long time. Your combos are nice; I like Marie Cate better.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'with a German accent.' I've heard Michaela pronounced Mee-ky-AY-la, which is neat. I like that better than mih-KAY-la.
Michy looks to me like it'd be pronounced Mishy. I think the nickname Mickie would be cute.

I prefer Mary to Marie but Marie is pretty also. I like Marie Cate better yet Marie Kate. I love Michaela, i love Mikayla even more.
I like both Mary and Marie. They're both unusual by themselves nowadays, but perhaps Marie would be a little more refreshing as a fn, considering it's so often used as a mn right now. I think the same could be said of double names too, but in that case the choice of Mary or Marie would depend somewhat more on the second name's sound and how the double name sounds as a whole.
Michaela isn't inherently trashy; neither is Mikayla. They were given the connotation of trahiness by ignorant people who don't know how to spell--or use an ethnic name properly, as in Mikayla's case (Mikayla's the Ukrainian feminine form of Michael, and perfectly legit, despite perceptions to the contrary).
I wouldn't say Michaela's trendy, because it's a reasonably classic name imo despite its use being concentrated in modern times. It is extremely popular today, however, and maybe Michelle or Michèle (but not Michele, which is masculine) would be a better, more original choice today.
