No, you aren't. Unless absolutely all surnames are male to you, when first names. So many so-called "male names on girls" were never actually used on boys in the first place! Mackenzie is one of those.

Marlowe makes a nice girls' name, imo.

LIke Anthony I think of Christopher Marlowe. It's nms but I prefer the spelling Marlo by a landslide. Marlowe looks so cumbersome compared to Marlo.

This is one of my favorite names! I love it for a boy though, not for a girl, as I think it's very musculine..

Marlowe makes me think of Christopher Marlowe and if i remember correctly didnt he write play about the same time Shakespear did in which the final scene had 23 dead characters on stage.

I like it for a girl, spelled Marlo, which is unusual for me because I think names that end in O are typically too masculine to even consider. But I also love the name/nn Marley.

The name spelled Marlowe is too butch and surnamey for a female, in my opinion. Funny you should say 'in the same vain [sic],' since to me it does sound a bit vain on a guy. Anyway, I really don't like that surnamey spelling on a girl; it's heavy as a ton of bricks.
