I don't know that it's dated ow, but I don't care for it. I picture a sly, dishonest little boy, the one who always evades questions you ask him and whose stories you always need to check because he often "forgets" important details, like the fact that he wasn't technically in school when he is supposed to be.
I also think of Simon the Chipmunk, who was cute.
And the electronic game Simon, a childhood favorite, where you push the colored light-up panels in the order in which the game shows you.
