I think it's perhaps 'stoma': bridle. The golden bridle was used by Bellerophon to catch Pegasus.

Nope.
It means 'golden mouthed'. This was the name of a Bishop of Constantinople (John C., 354-407 AD.) famous for the eloquence of his preaching.
