As far as I know the name MICO originates in France and was originally MICAULT, it was changed in Spain around the time of the Spanish inquisition when they then left Spain, and at least some came to the UK... In the UK there were a couple of famous Micos around 1600: Sir Samuel Mico, an alderman and Richard Mico, composed to Queen Henrietta...
