Nice sounding, and rather fashionable (a concern if you are trying to avoid popular names at all).
For me personally, it's too biblical. The full name suggests a stern angel (I always think of the story about the little depression in people's upper lip being put there by Gabriel hushing humans.. anyone remember what movie had that in it? Wasn't Christopher Walken Gabriel?)... but it wouldn't be distracting in that sense, on a real guy.
I actually like nn Gabe. It sounds very relaxed, butch & friendly.
