Not in my friend's case. His full name is Chet James Paul _________. But Chet is apparently an established nn for the name Chester. I'm not a fan of Chester though.

Traditionally, Chet is for Chester, I think.

I like Chet, too--I think of Chet Baker.

What do people think of Chester

oooo i like Chester....what does everyone think to that name?

then i suppose could be any of these nns Chey, Chet etc

not keen on any of the other suggestions im afraid not a fan of traditional names like charles a bit too boring and unoriginal to me!

I had an uncle named Chester ,(m)

he was usually called Ches. A mild and obvious nick-name for that family; they were given to odd ones--Chester's brother Edgar was always clled "TeeTee". and his sister Elsie was called Pat.

Chester and Charles are equally traditional names, you know.

I personally prefer Chester (which I do like quite well), but you'll find both used plenty on stodgy old men.

really? I've never met or heard of anyone called chester before, i thought it sounded quite modern...maybe not then
