[Opinions] German Girl Names
I read the post about Stellan and started to like the name. They said it was a boy name and I am pretty set on those. However, I am still not set on my girl combos except for Emerson Grace.
I really love the idea of using at least one name from Swedish and German orgin. I am mostly German, and a little part swedish, with others, but Swedish takes over because I worked with a guy from Sweden over the summer and it was nice to hear about his country.
Anyway, what about Stellan for a girl? Would anyone consider it? Or is it an absolute NO WAY!
What do you think of these other names I got off a German site (I am kind of picky about meanings as well so I added those). All were mentioned as girl names.
Callan - chatter (is this too close to Cullican, I dont know how to spell it but the water company?) Do you say Cal-lan (Cal as in Calvin) or Call-lan
Clay - adhere, mortal (is this a NO because its a word and material?)
Ilse - form of Elisabeth
Lamar - the site had this down as unisex, meaning land...nn Mar?
Nixie - water sprite
Pepin - Perseverance (I worked at a Camp Pepin this past summer, and I grew so much. I feel a connection to the name, but is it too weird?)
Zelda - gray warrior
Zelinda - shied of victory. I dont like the like the idea of Linda, so maybe trying to find a variation? Or when you say it, do you pn. it a different way not to get Linda? I like Zelina in a way.
Zelma - form of Selma

Stellan I lke Stella better (for boy or girl)?
Callan (KAL-un) Kind of cute! Calla is nice too! Is it for a boy or girl?
Clay A good name IMO.
Ilse Its ok
Lamar Reminds me of Austrian actress Hedy Lamar (boy or girl name)?
Pepin I'm afraid he Will be called Pepi as in Pepi LaPew!
Nixie In European folklore seeing the magical Nixie on the right
night of a full moon meant you were in love.
Zelda Its Ok but kind of old fashion sounding.
Zelinda Better than Zelda I think. I prefer Zelina
Zelma Kind of pretty!

I said that all names here were supposedly girl names, expect Lamar which was unisex
To me, Stellan for a girl is definitely an absolute NO WAY! I live in Sweden and I don't think I've ever met, or even heard of, a Stellan who wasn't a male born around 1940-1960. :) I suppose it's all a matter of getting used to though, because I don't have much of a problem with the general idea of unisex names. Of the other names I really like Zelda and Zelma, but the others aren't my style.
