This site provides two possible etymologies for Marisa (check out link). Another possible relation would be to the Greek Maira (check out: http://www.behindthename.com/messages/10518.html).
So instead of "Spanish or Italian?" you might want to ask yourself "Hebrew, Latin or Greek?" :)
