I have only heard one native speaker pronounce Mairead. Mairead ni Mhaonaigh is from Co. Donegal, and she pronounces her name "mair-RAYD". The first section is like the word "mare"

Go to www.namenerds.com, and you won't come out for hours! Long lists of Irish and Scottish names, with convincing-looking pronunciations and meanings. The ones I know about have been accurate so far ... and it's such fun to browse.

Mairead = mor-AYD
Maighread = moy-RAYD
