[Opinions] Sibset.
Utterly imaginary, from the Yours/Mine/Ours game on the other board. WDYT?DS: Morpheus Ray (Morph)
DS: Edmond Bendicht (Eddy)
DD/DD: Evening Veronica (Evey), Ruxandra Mary (Ruxi)
DS: Ignatius Riley (Iggy)
DD: Mercedes Edith (Dee)
DD: Scarlet-Carson Teresa
DS: Nathaniel Claude (Nat)
DD/DS/DD: Katharine Stargazer (Kitty), Christopher Clair (Cricket), Julie IngeborgSome of the nicknames in parentheses are what I'd call them most all the time--Ruxi and Kitty, for example. Other nicknames are simply what I'd be inclined to use as a pet name, though they might very well go by their full name most of the time--Morph, Eddy, etc. If any of the nicknames just bother you that much, pretend in your head they're occasional.Array

Ooh, pretty!DS: Morpheus Ray (Morph) - Morpheus sounds neat, and the shortness of Ray makes it better.
DS: Edmond Bendicht (Eddy)- I love the sound of this name, even if I would probably spell Benedicht without the h.
DD/DD: Evening Veronica (Evey), Ruxandra Mary (Ruxi) - I think Evening as a name is adorable and I love Evey. Ruxandra is interesting (in a pretty way), Mary seems to compliment it, and Ruxi is cute. The only qualm I have is that Veronica is not my style (but I still think it goes well in the combo.)
DS: Ignatius Riley (Iggy) - Ignatius is kind of growing on me and Riley is a GP. Iggy, I could do without, but since it's a nickname, I could probably go with it.
DD: Mercedes Edith (Dee) - Ooh, Mercedes. That's a pretty name. Edith is so-so to me and I never really like Dee, but it fits with the rest of the set.
DD: Scarlet-Carson Teresa - Scarlet-Carson sounds pretty and I love Teresa.
DS: Nathaniel Claude (Nat) The one-syllable Claude seems to compliment the 4 syllable Nathaniel. Nat is a refreshing change to the usual Nate.
DD/DS/DD: Katharine Stargazer (Kitty), Christopher Clair (Cricket), Julie Ingeborg - This is my favorite part of the set. Katharine Stargazer is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Kitty is a nice difference from Kate/Katie/Kathy (my good friend from school is a Katherine NN Kitty, actually). Christopher is a semi-favorite of mine and Clair for males is growing on me. Cricket is a neat pet name (I really don't like Chris and I tend to use Kit myself.) And Julie Ingeborg just sounds right with the other two.All in all, your names are terrific as usual.

Love theseDS: Morpheus Ray (Morph) - Love it, cool and off-beat
DS: Edmond Bendicht (Eddy) - Sticks out like a sore thumb. Very traditiona, very upperclass.
DD/DD: Evening Veronica (Evey), Ruxandra Mary (Ruxi) - Ruxandra is starting to grow on me, I think it could work. Evening Veronica is lovely as always
DS: Ignatius Riley (Iggy) - Not a fan of Ignatius (Have you read the Academy of Dunces?), but it's quite nice
DD: Mercedes Edith (Dee) - LOVE this!
DD: Scarlet-Carson Teresa - I'm not a person for double names. But this is quite lovely, and it honors your mother
DS: Nathaniel Claude (Nat) - I'm thinking that the Nat below was a mitsake. Again, I love.
DD/DS/DD: Katharine Stargazer (Nat), Christopher Clair (Cricket), Julie Ingeborg - These are by far my favorites. However: I cannot see how one gets Nat out of Katharine. That would be my only complaint. Cricket is a great nn for Christopher.

Not a fan of Ignatius (Have you read the Academy of Dunces?)I haven't--should I? I associate Ignatius with the saint, and Iggy with Pop. ;)I'm thinking that the Nat below was a mitsake.Yes, it was. :D I meant Kitty. I've always liked both Nathaniel "Nat" and Katharine "Kitty", but the Bartimaeus trilogy put that love into overdrive, lol.Array

You should read it.

The names make for a rather mixed sibset. Honestly, I don't even know where to start on the names altogether. Some of them are way to out there imo. Ruxandra is unusual but very pretty, as is Mercedes. But Evening? Stargazer? Let's just say I'm very glad that this is "utterly imaginary" :)

I do hope you understand that Evening Veronica is my favourite combo. So even if this one is imaginary, it doesn't mean it will entirely stay that way in the future--I am getting closer and closer to the point of having children. ;) And stargazer lilies are my favourite flower, thus the logic behind Katharine Stargazer.I have no fear of people thinking they're too out there, though (and this is an observation not directed at you but in general) I have noticed that this board has been starting to grow trendier and more conservative lately. I may have to take my names elsewhere. ;)Array

A question for you.Would you like it if Evening was your name? When considering names for future children I ask myself if I'd be happy with each name as my own. If I was called Evening, I'd dread people asking my name incase they respond "Uh, evening. What's your name?" Or worse - maybe they’d laugh or snigger.Of course, your future daughter may relish in her unique name. I have quite a common name and there was at least one at almost every school I went to, which I hated. I really hope there are no others in my class when I start college. As for the board getting trendier, I think that’s all the more reason to refresh us with your different taste.I don’t mean to preach; this is just some advice which you probably don’t need. This coming from the girl who has a liking for Ocean (though I wouldn’t use it for reasons mentioned) :)

Oh, you've gotten me started, and don't worry--you're not coming off preachy. I believe wholeheartedly that if I'm going to talk the talk, I better be able to back it up. It's definitely good to be challenged by something other than a "nms" sometimes. ;)Yes, I think I would like it if my name was Evening Veronica. If I ever felt uncomfortable by the full name, I'd have both short forms (Evey and Eve) and a more conventional middle name to fall back on. I would also have the knowledge that my mother chose both the first and middle name for a specific, significant reason.I think what a lot of people (once again, not speaking to you, but in general) here forget is that their experiences aren't universal. There's a pretty good chance that Evening and Morpheus aren't going to be raised in the same sort of environment, with the same set of values and experiences, as Simon and Isabelle; while their names might not give them any advantages in a world of Olivias and Tylers, there's the possibility that they aren't going to be raised to seek the same sorts of things as little Abigail B. I plan to support my children whether they want to be artists or CPAs, but given what their upbringing currently would look like, they very well might be much more inclined towards the former than the latter. If you know what I mean?It all reminds me of the grand old argument against piercings, visible tattoos, etc. The inevitable answer answer people give is, "What are they going to do when they need a real job?" Not everyone's life is going to be defined by a cubicle and a boardroom, and sometimes I think people ignore that fact.As far as your own likings--I don't find Ocean particularly attractive personally, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. I'd much rather meet a girl called Ocean than, say, Laikyn--and I think that while more unusual word names might not be seen so seriously as John and Mary, I think they're leagues more respectable than tryndee, misspelled surnames and gender-benders. But that's just me.Have I made any sense here, or is it a bunch of misshapen ramblings? ;)Array
