[Facts] Re: Avenel & Avanel
i found a site saying it is French and it is masculine and that it means 'lives near the oatfield'. Well, before that i checked a Latin dictionary and found the Latin word avena , which means 'oat', so i think this meaning is most likely to be true. although, where the 'lives near' part comes from, i can't find in the word, but probably the names literally means 'oatfield' and figurally it is meant that the person bearing this name lived near an oatfield.
