I like both a lot but prefer Seraphina.Serena could work as a nickname but I find it very silly.

SerenaI'm biased, but I prefer Serena by far! I have loved this name since I was about 13 for its meaning, its romance & its melodic flow. This was before it became semi-popular for having Serena Williams as a famous bearer. The name seems the have stayed just below the overly popular mark which pleases me & keeps me attached to it. As for Seraphina. To be honest I have not heard of this name before joining this board. It immediately makes me think of the movie Sarafina. That association is too ideologically loaded for me. Personally I think Serena as a nn for Seraphina is a bit of a stretch. Sarah, Fee or even Nina flow more naturally from Seraphina imo.

I much prefer Seraphina. And don't like the idea of Serena as a nn for Seraphina. It doesn't look right to me.

I prefer Seraphina. I just like the sound of it better. As for Serena as a nn, no, I don't think it sounds right and is too much of a stretch, for me anyway.

I would go with Serena.

I think I like Seraphina more. That kind of surprises me. Though I think it would be WAAY more likely she'd become Sera. Serena as a nn seems forced and unlikely. NNs don't tend to be three syllables long for one thing.

I prefer Seraphina and I think it's not great to make Serena the nn, it just sound completely different to me. (I might one day use Serafina / Seraphine "Sera" myself)

I prefer Serena, but I think it'd be fine to have Serena as the nn of Seraphina. Though they kinda have opposite meanings... They're both lovely names.
