Dear Warberton Family, Thank you for your interest in providing a home to so many children! We have seven children whom we believe will fit in well with your family. Their names are Devdan Firdos "Dev", Lilavati Madhu, Kumari Sonal, Manjula Rashmi, Pranav Vivek, Indah Tri, and Citra Utari. The first five children are siblings from southern India. They lived in poverty along with their parents. Unfortunately, both parents passed away from tuberculosis along with another sister. Thankfully, the children are healthy though Lilavati, Manjula, and Pravav also had tuberculosis. Inda and Citra are sisters from the Indonesian island of Bali. After a flash flood washed away their village, the girls were found high in a tree. No other survivors from their village have been found, and nothing is known of the girls' history. Devdan, called Dev by his siblings, is 12 years old. He is the leader and his younger siblings clearly look up to him for provision. Dev seems to have some schooling, and he can speak English enough to get by. Dev's favorite pasttime is kickball, a game he picked up while staying here in the orphanage. Lilavati is around 11 years old. She is in a somewhat fragile state of health, though we assume that she was once a strong child. Her bout with tuberculosis almost killed her, and she still suffers from frequent upper repiratory infections. It is recommended that you not enroll her in school where she may be subject to an array of bacteria and germs. Instead, she would probably do best with a tutor. Lilavati enjoys reading, especially books on Indian culture and religion.Kumari is nine years old. She is a vibrant, active little girl who is not afraid to share her feelings. She misses her parents very much, and looks up to Dev and Lilavati as a sort of 'replacement parents'. It should not take her long to adjust to you and your family. Her favorite pasttime is also kickball. You will often find her tagging along behind Dev.Manjula is 18 months old. She had tuberculosis, but was treated in time to prevent the disease from becoming too potent. Manjula is walking around, though hasn't started to run yet. She speaks a jumbled mixture of Indian and English that only Dev is very good at understanding. We have been teaching her sign language so that she can communicate her wants and needs to you. Pranav is around five months old. We do not know his exact age, but he seems to be on the correct developmental track for a five month old baby. Pranav is a sweet little boy, adored by his older sisters and brother. He also had tuberculosis, but like Manjula it was treated early enough that it did not cause damage. Indah is five years old. She is very frightened of water, likely due to the flood that washed away her village. She is very protective of her sister Citra. Indah likes dolls, and seems particularly enthralled with dancers. Citra is three years old. She is also frightened of water, though she adores mud. Citra is never far from Indah. Citra loves to play. We have discovered that she is allergic to strawberries. We hope that these children will be a good match for your family. Please write back and tell us how they are doing!

Thank you for our wonderful new children. Our boys are thrilled with their siblings. It has been one year since we received our children.Dev has joined a soccer team. He is active in that and in his school. We gave hired tutors for him as well as getting him involved with the ESL program at his school. His English is much better. He has also met another boy around his age who was born and raised in India. Our families have become great friends. We will all be travelling together to India this summer.Lilavati "Lily" is doing very well. After a few months of intensive therapy, her lungs improved a lot. She still has trouble, but she has an inhailor and a nebulizer to use when she needs it. She has been taught by a tutor, whom she has become quite close to.Kumari "Mari" has also joined a soccer team. She is friends with everyone she meets. She loves being part of our family and has grown quite close to her "new mommy and daddy".Manjula "Julie" has blossomed. Her language developement has improved quite a bit. She speaks mostly English now. She is an easy going girl. She still doesn't run much, but mostly because she isn't in that much of a hurry.Pranav "Prani" has grown so much! He is walking now. He only speaks some words, but the words he does speak, he speaks them a lot.Indah is doing great! We enrolled her in ballet and she is blossoming. She loves it! She loves having brothers. They care for her very well. She is still scared of water, although it is fading. We initially had to give her sponge baths because she was afraid of the tub. She has now seen her siblings use the bath and be ok. She is slowly losing her fear.Citra is also losing her fear of water. Hers is going away a little quicker since she is younger. She is very fond of our sandbox. She builds many castles. She is an adventerous child. She just loves to play and explore.Thank you for our great new family.
