It's my name. I like it, but I hate how common it is. I have known over 30 Amandas and I think there are enough of us already, heh.

I really dislike this name.

It's a little dated sounding to me (because it's gone out of fashion), but I like Amanda. I don't even mind it with nickname Mandy, although as an independent name Mandy doesn't cut it for me.. neither does the spelling Mandi.

Wow, all these negative comments! I considered this recently when I was pregnant. I think it's beautiful, classic, and UPPER class more than low class!!! I picture a rich heiress before I would picture a trailer park girl with this name (Amanda Hearst comes to mind). I love the nicknames and the "A Man, Duh" thing is...beyond moronic. You could find ways to butcher a million names if you tried to. Anyway, I think it's very pretty.

I find Amanda plain, boring and common in a Samantha way, but much worse than Samantha which has an interesting meaning controversy. I don't like Amanda one bit, and I hate Mandy, Manda, Manders (ewwww)... It sounds trashy and unedcuated to me. I also dislike the moms saying "I called my daughter Amanda because it means "worthy of being loved"". Errr... aren't the other babies worthy of being loved? Cheesy, I tell you... The "a man, duh!" joke doesn't help either.

eh. I grew up around so many that I think of it as one of those imageless name like John. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that. It's nms though. And like Amanda said, my friend got, "You're a man, duh," too.

i don't think there is anything wrong with it. i like Amada and Ananda, a tad better tho.
