[Facts] Meaning of the name Jaydon
I realize that some names have many meanings and different orgins. I know that the name Jaydon could have derived from the biblical name Jadon which is Hebrew for God has heard. Also, could have derived from the stone Jade. But looking up the name recently it was suggested that Jayden in English means Fire Bird. Just this spelling of it because it is the cross combination of Jay and Aiden. Jay being Latin for Bird and Aiden being Celtic for Fire. Therefore in English makes the name meaning Fire Bird. Which meaning do you think is most accurate? Or do you think they all are right and that it just depends on what orgin is using the name? I personally like the meaning Fire Bird. But I just wanted others impressions of the meanings since there is more then one. But I guess it is possible for them all to be right and just depends on what country is using the name would depend on the meaning. Thanks for any info anyone may have.

You can't take original etymologies of two separate names or words and use that as the original "meaning" of a name UNLESS you have evidence that someone deliberately created the name in this way. If you know of a particular case where parents deliberately created the name Jaydon BECAUSE they wanted it to "mean" "Fire Bird" using this reasoning, I suppose you could say that was the etymology in that one particular case. But it would not be correct to use that as a general "meaning" in the etymological sense.
aiden or something similar might be Celtic for fire (see the BtN entry for the name Aodh), but I am pretty sure that jay is not Latin for bird (that would be avis). Anyway, I am not aware of a single genuine (i.e. not invented) name that combines a Latin and a Celtic element.
By the way: Why not a normal, single posting, but one where you answer yourself, LynnLynn and Tito82 most probably being one and the same person? And please do not add an outrageous story now of 2 people sharing the same computer with the same IP number and both registered on October 10 but needing this board to communicate...
I would have given a single posting the same attention and would probably have answered it all the same.

In Ancient Egyptian Mythology the Phoenix is a mythical Sacred Fire Bird said to live 500 or 1461 years (Depending on the Source) The Phoenix is a bird with beautiful gold and red plumage. At the end of its life cycle the Phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites: both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes. From which a new young Phoenix arises. Thats one of the stories of the Fire Bird. But Im not sure about the meaning as far as names go. But the story of the Fire Bird is interesting enough. I just wanted to give a Historical reference since Im a History Teacher.
