[Facts] name enquirey
I would like to know where name Onofrio originated from what it means, and if there is an English translation for it? The name is very common in southern Italy, especially in Sicily. But I hear that the name originated from Asia. I would like to know if this is true.

I don't know if you read the note before posting but it says:
Sorry if that sounded rude.. but you know, it's hard to help when you don't know the full story.

If you are posting a question about the origin of a name please include as much information as possible. Most important are the gender and ethnic background.
sorry.. i messed it up earlier.

Well Charlotte if they dont know it then they cant answer it now can they? If you dont know then dont post something so rude!! I am really getting sick of all this rudeness!!
hee-hee...
Ah, I don't think she really did all that great a job at bein' rude, Gia. Ain't NOBODY beats Nanaea at bein' rude! I am the Queen o' Rude! Wheeeeee!
You do pretty good, yourself, Gia -- when somebody deserves it. :)
But I don't think Charlotte meant to it to be quite as rude as it may have sounded, and she did apologize at the same time. (I was kinda puzzled, too, coz I thought the poster had already made the gender and ethnic background of the name pretty clear in his posting.)

Yeah my point, he told a lot more then some people and she goes off with that!!
Hopefully one of the others here will be able to provide you with more in-depth info (especially regarding possible Asian origins, which I have no clue about), but from what I've read, the anglicized version of Onofrio is Humphrey , which you can learn more about on this site by clicking on the blue "Humphrey ".
