I prefer Clara to Laura, but both are pretty. They'd make great sister names.
Laura Sue or Clara Sue? Laura Sue seems to sound a bit better, but I'm not really a fan of the name Sue.
Laura Dawn or Clara Dawn? Laura Dawn.
Laura June or Clara June? Clara June.
Laura May or Clara May? Laura May sounds a bit better, but they're both nice. Clara May reminds me of a make-up brand though.
Laura Janet or Clara Janet? Laura Janet. These both seem too long as double first names. I don't care for the name Janet to be honest.
Laura April or Clara April? Clara April. April is a nice name. I'd like to see it used more often.

And generally is Laura better than Clara? Or not? I'd say so. But I'm biased. I like Clara because, to me, it has a nice, old-fashioned Southern appeal. I think Laura is more classy and I generally just prefer Laura to Clara.

Generally, I prefer Clara because Laura is so much more common. It's getting overdone.
Not a fan of Sue, Dawn, April, or Janet, but Clara June and Clara May are nice. I do prefer the spelling Mae, though.
Magnanimous Despair alone could show me so divine a thing, where feeble hope could ne'er have flown, but vainly flapped its tinsel wing.
