I like Darren a lot, but I could probably never use it because of a very, very, very strange English teacher I had in 7th grade. He's like a legend... a really weird legend... where I live, so it would be practically evil to name my kid that.
You don't have that problem, I'd imagine, so I think it would be a nice, refreshing name to use.
