Help[Opinions] Ashley for a boy!
Sorry to post twice close together but theres a name I was thinking about tonight that I really like and I didnt want to forget about it.
Ashley (for a boy)
Now, forgetting about how its usually used on girls (I like originally boys names on boys like Kelly and Ashley) what do you think? What do you imagine? Do you like the combo Ashley James? ( I thought i needed a strictly boys name for the mn)
ANd how does it sound with Augustin and Natalie?

I know I'm in the minority here...
but I have an aversion to naming any one Ashley. For girls it's way too overused and on boys I kind of cringe for the kid. Despite it being a unisex name, as many have pointed out, not everyone knows that and he'll spend his entire life defending his name.
In general I just don't like the name for either sex.

I like it
I love, love, love unisex (often the ones that are ALWAYS used for girls), and I like Ashley, but it's not one of my favorites, but I'm considering it as a mn for Leo
Augustin, Natalie & Ashley sound good, but I don't care for Ashley James, esp with people starting to use James for girls, and it's just too standard

I just feel bad for any boy named Ashley or Kelly. In most cases, their peers will tease them unmercifully.

I love it a lot. So refreshing and dashingly handsome! Ashley James is a great combo.
However I don't think Ashley goes well with Augustin and Natalie. The "lee" endings of Ashley and Natalie bug me; Ashley and Augustin aren't so bad, but Augustin's too long imo and I'm not crazy about the same initial thing (though I don't mind it as much as I used to).

I just get ecstatic when I see names like Ashley on a boy or that someone likes those names! I think as long as he understands the origins of his name, he should at least survive and probably even thrive with his name, even when in school. And I think Ashley James is a great combo (as you said, do use an all-male middle name to avoid complete gender confusion)!
I edited to add this, but one of my friends has talked about a boy named Ashley that she knows, and she says that he is so sweet!

Ashley isn't originally a boys' name - it's a unisex name drawn from an Old English surname. Except for in 1900-1909 (584th) and in 1940-1959 (884th-810th) Ashley has been vastly more popular for girls than for boys. :-)

Ashley was the name of a male character in Gone With the Wind, which was a story written in the 1930s during the Depression in America, and was made into a movie a couple of years later. So there is male precedence with this name.

I don't care about it being used on girls - I still like it on a boy a lot. More, actually. Ashley sounds strong and smart, gentle and respectful, reserved but not reclusive. James is filler to me, but whatever.
It sounds alright with Augustin and Natalie; I think it'd be best as the eldest brother's name.
